Betty Ann Bates Remy, 63, went home with her Lord, while surrounded by her family,  at her home in Coalton, Ohio, on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. She was born in McArthur, Ohio, on March 16, 1961,to the late Woodrow Bates and Rosalie Lowry Bates Roberts. She was the youngest of seven children. She attended Vinton County Consolidated High School and was married 47 years to her loving husband, Roger " Bim " Remy, who survives. Betty Ann was quite a unique lady, from bottling cotton to gift her friends to raising her pet skunk, Flower, along with her basset hound, Dumbo. She loved to collect almost anything you could name. Her favorite things were butterflies. She loved all of the neighborhood children and called them her sons and daughters. She attended the Old Country Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Woody Bates; her father-in-law and mother -in-law, Clarence and Garnet Remy; brothers-in-law : Ronald Maxwell, Randy Nichols, Bob Williams, and Marvin, Thomas, Bill, and Jim Remy; sister-in-law, Mary Fain; niece, Tina Scarrett; and great-niece, Leanna Maxwell.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Amy ( Jamie ) Brewer; her son, David ( Shawna ) Remy; grandchildren : Makayla ( Nick ) Derrow; Keesha Brewer ( Codie Massie ), Curtis J. Brewer, and Taylor, Victoria ( Oria ), Addisan, Paislee and Hazel Remy; great grandchildren Jaydon Derrow and Hudson Massie; sisters : Diana Fouse, Grace Maxwell, Irene ( Kenny ) Smith, Suze Nichols, and Jane Williams; sisters-in-law, Linda ( Brock ) Coffee and Jenna Remy; brothers-in-law Dick Remy and Jim Fain; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.Betty Ann loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed being the life of the party wherever she went. She will be so missed by all her family and many friends, but she will never be forgotten.
Friends may gather at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Saturday from 4 until 6 P.M. Funeral services will follow at 6 P.M. officiated by Pastor Phil Griffith. Betty requested cremation to follow. Online condolences may be made at www.samjenkinsfuneralchapel.com.
