Daniel " Dan " Wile, 74, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by his family, on Tuesday evening, January 13, 2026, at Four Winds Community., Jackson, Ohio. He was born in Midway, Ohio, December 28, 1951, to the late Robert and Georgia McComas Wile. While in High School, he met his future wife of 54 years, Sylvia Davis Wile, who survives. Together they had a son, Shane Wile, of Sebree, Kentucky, and two daughters, Anne Aubin and Frankie Wile, both of Logan, Ohio. Dan is also survived by four grandchildren : Amy Greenwald, Dakota Leonard, Logan Parkison, and Sophia Parkison; three great grandchildren; also by three sisters : Jenny Sullivan, Robin Clinton, and Tina Stein. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cindy Wile, and a brother, Phil Wile. Dan was employed by Merrilat Cabinets until the closing of the plant around 2014. There, his fellow employees affectionately gave him the nickname " Julio." He later retired from the Austin Powder Company. He collected and restored crosscut saws and coached crosscutting at Hocking College. Dan and Sylvia traveled for 27 years together, attending and giving exhibitions of crosscutting at Tar Hollow, Lake Hope, Scioto Trails, and Timberfest at the Vinton County Fair where he was a member of the Fair Board. He had the greatest adventure in his life when he traveled to Montana to learn how to sharpen saws from a true backswood mountain man. His family has requested cremation.
