Dorothy Sickles

Dorothy Jane Sickles, 77, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Arlington Court Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center on Monday afternoon, September 10, 2018. She was born in Kentucky on August 16, 1941, to the late James and Etta Mae Wollett Sullivan. She was a 1959 graduate of Wellston High School and a retired nurses aid. She enjoyed reading, bingo, country music, and spending time with her grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, John D. Sickles; a sister, Mary Ann Geiger; several sister and brother in laws; and nieces and nephews. She is survived by two daughters, Ginger ( Virgil Powell) Genheimer and Debbie ( Rick) Stewart; a son, John ( Denise) Sickles; grandchildren Kristin, Brett ( Jenny), Ryan ( Melissa), Brittaney ( Justin), Kayla ( Jamie), Kyler, and Gabriella; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary ( James) Brewer; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Friday after 11:00 A.M. and until the funeral hour at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Mary Jo Yeakel will officiate with burial to follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, and the family would like to say thank you to her hospice nurse, Carrie, for taking great care of her.
