James " Jimmy " Ervin, 70, of Wellston, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, August 3,2023, at Four Winds Community following an extended illness. The beloved son of the late Bundy E. Ervin and Anna Belle Loudermilk Ervin, he was born in Wellston, Ohio, on February 1, 1953. His journey began on a small family farm where he learned the values of hard work and dedication. He spent his life offering his farm skills and hard work to farms throughout Jackson and Vinton Counties. After graduating from Vinton County High School in 1972, he joined his brother in growing Ervin's Gulf Gas Station, offering a friendly smile and great service. After 30 plus years working at Goodyear / Meridian, he spent his final years before retirement working for Holzer Clinic. No matter where you saw him, you could always know he would be ready to share his warmth and wisdom with everyone he encountered. His passions were simple. He enjoyed cheering on the OSU Buckeyes, visiting car shows, and being outdoors. Above all, he thrived on meaningful conversations, finding delight in connecting with others, and brightening their days. Jimmy's devotion was evident in his 45 years of marriage to his surviving wife, Sandy Speraw Ervin. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his daughter, Tracey ( Josh ) Hughes of North Carolina and his cherished grandchildren : Avery, Anna, and Ace Hughes, all of North Carolina, family members, and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Dewey Ervin, and an infant grandchild. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Adena Cancer Center and ProMedica Hospice Care for their exceptional care and support. Special neighbors and relatives added immeasurable comfort to Jimmy's final days, and their kindness will always be treasured.
