Sonny Allen

Sonny Allen, 80, of Wellston, Ohio, passed away on Sunday evening, November 8, 2015, at Holzer Medical Center- Jackson. He was born in Wellston, Ohio, on March 24, 1935, to the late Ark B. Allen and Viola deal Allen. He was a former resident of Chillicothe, Ohio, where he was one of the first employees of the new Frisch's Big Boy restaurant and later employed as a maintenance worker for the city of Chillicothe. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Sue Allen; four brothers, Bob, Paul, Ray, and Jimmy Allen; and three sisters, Sonja Lou Glasco, Erma Crow, and Mary Crow. He married his wife of 58 years,Shirley Mercer Allen, on November 9, 1957. She is a resident of Heartland of Jackson. Besides his wife, he is also survived by three brothers, Larry Allen of Columbus, Ohio, Ronnie Allen of Oak Hill, Ohio, and John Allen; a sister, Barbara Clark of Columbus, Ohio; grandsons Zachary Allen and Jeremiah Allen; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Friday from 1 P.M. until 2 P.M.
Graveside services will follow at 2:15 P.M. at the Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston with Pastor Steve Mathews officiating.
