Charlie Bowden, age 81, while surrounded by his family, went home with his Lord at his home in Hamden, Ohio, on Tuesday afternoon, January 19, 2021. He was born at Radcliff, Ohio, on January 26, 1939. His father was the late Orville Milton Bowden, and his step-mother was the late Rosezella Mae Hughes Bowden. They both passed away in 2002. Charlie was a 1957 graduate of Hamden High School and a U. S. Navy veteran. He was married to his surviving wife, Judy Kazee Bowden, for 53 years. He retired as a plumber and pipe fitter and was a 53 year member of Plumbers & Pipe Fitters #189. Following his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening, and hunting for mushrooms and ginseng. He loved his cat, Frazzle, who also survives. Charlie truly loved God and the church. He was a member of the Puritan Freewill Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent, a deacon, and a church bus driver. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister,, Connie Partlow, and two brothers, Arnie and Butch Bowden. Besides his loving wife and cat, he leaves behind three sons : James Brian ( Brenda ) Bowden and William Carl ( Tonya ) Bowden, both of McArthur, Ohio, and Charles Lee ( Evelyn ) Bowden of Gahanna, Ohio; a daughter, Laurie Ann ( David ) Walton, of Wellston; two brothers, Gary ( Julie ) Bowden of Hamden and Tim ( Beth) Bowden of Port St. Lucie, Florida; a sister, Sharon Kay Bowden Jones of Hamden; six grandchildren : Emily, Miranda, Tyler, Zachary, Auston, and Jenna; two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit and pay their respects at the Puritan Freewill Baptist Church, 38542 St. Rt. 160, Hamden, Ohio, on Saturday from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Jamie Fortner will officiate the services , and Dr. Jason R. Winters will direct the services. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery with military services by McArthur Memorial Post # 5299. The family would like for any memorial gifts to be given to the Puritan Freewill Baptist Church in Charlie's memory. Due to COVID-19, the Jenkins Funeral Chapel requests those attending the visitation and services to please wear face masks and practice social distancing.
